The University of Wolverhampton’s Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills (ECMS) will be holding a Drop in Recruitment Open Day on Wednesday 6th March between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm at its New National Foundry Training Centre in Tipton.

The Open Day is taking place in National Apprenticeship Week and will showcase the apprenticeship vacancies on offer young people.

The ECMS is a new employer-led training facility for the Black Country, designed to enhance productivity in the region’s high value manufacturing sector by providing specialist training and helping to close skills gaps identified by employers.

Ian Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive at the ECMS, said: “Manufacturing is undergoing an amazing revival in the region and we have up to 50 apprenticeships vacancies available with employers, across the Black Country.

“We’re looking for ambitious school leavers and/or young people who have good standards of English and Maths to fill a variety of apprenticeship vacancies, working with local and national employers in the manufacturing industry. All apprenticeships are 3 to 4 years and start at Level 3.”

The event is taking place at the National Foundry Training Centre, Tipton Road, Tipton, DY4 7UW, from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

The Foundry is part of the Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills – a collaboration between the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, University of Wolverhampton, Dudley College, Cast Metals Federation, Confederation of British Metalforming, Institute of Cast Metals Engineers and In-Comm Training.
