How the training landscape has changed for manufacturing and cast metal industry?
April 16 @ 5:00 am - 7:00 pmFree
Manufacturing is still at the heart of the UK with 8% of jobs, 2.7 million in total, £186 billion of economic output, or 10% of the UK total, 44% of UK exports, worth £274 billion. In response to the skills gap in the manufacturing sector, the Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills (ECMS) is an employer led training facility providing an innovative solution to the high value manufacturing training needs of the sector.
Due to the highly skilled nature of the sector there has always been difficulty in developing and attracting new talent to the industry, this workshop ran by ECMS will help to provide companies with realistic training options for how best to attract new talent to their workforce, as well as providing further training to their existing staff.
Through extensive consultation with professional bodies Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (ICME), Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM), Cast Metals Federation (CMF) the ECMS National Foundry Training Centre was formed focusing on training in Foundry/Metal casting and Patternmaking the first of its kind in the UK. The unique facility includes:
- a fully-equipped training foundry
- with modern melting furnaces
- moulding and casting equipment
- design suite
- laboratories for quality assurance
- and mechanical testing.
The event is open to all Manufacturing and cast metal industry companies.
